 Description

Kitega Community Centre in Uganda is looking for volunteers to teach short 
courses to the adults in the community. Courses should last at least 2 weeks 
and should focus on specific skills that can be taught in a short amount of 
time. Volunteers will need to develop all the lesson plans and will need to 
bring all the necessary materials. The centre's staff will help volunteers 
to develop the appropriate lessons and activities. Most of the lesson 
planning can be done prior to the volunteer's arrival; communication with the 
centre will be done via email and other online communication methods. 

Volunteers are welcomed to develop their own short courses. Below are some 
suggestions: 

1. Business/Professional Development Courses, including the following: 
a. Budgeting/Basic Bookkeeping 
b. Basic Principles of Sales and Marketing 
c. Basic Market Research skills 
d. Business Writing 
c. Presentation Skills and Public Speaking 
d. Contracts and Business Negotiation 

2. Personal Development Skills, including the following: 
a. Time management 
b. Interpersonal Skills and Conflict Resolution 
c. Personal Finance/Savings/Retirement 

3. Specific Agricultural skills 
4. Specific arts & crafts skills

 Requirements 

Volunteers should have at least 3 years of professional experience in the 
subject that they wish to teach. Prior teaching experience is not required, 
although volunteers should be proficient at public speaking. Please provide a 
resume or CV and references and/or letters of recommendation.
